Gingerbread House Day: Next Friday, the 12th, we are going to be making gingerbread houses!  We will begin at 1:40.  See attached sheet for details and supply needs.  If you would like to help out please let me know! J  I know that the sheet said 1:30, but the children will be at GYM until 1:35.  We will not be able to begin until 1:40.

Christmas Party: December 18th we will have our class Christmas party.  The last few years each child has brought a $3.00-$5.00 gift of their own gender to exchange at our party.  So if you have a girl they would need to bring a girl gift and boy would need to bring a boy gift.  Please send these at any time.  Our class Christmas tree is up and able to embrace presents. J

Student of the Week: Our special student this week is Olivia Bosscher!  Olivia would like to be a veterinarian when she grows up!  She likes cats, mac and cheese, the color pink, and playing outside with her dog, Dexter.  Olivia’s hero is her cousin, Malorie Bosscher. J
Reading: **see attached paper
Writing:  This week we are thinking about ways that we can help our community.  The children are writing a realistic fiction story with characters, a setting, and a sequence of events.  Their story will be based upon helping out in our community!
Math:  We are continuing to measure!  We are using non-standard units of measurement to make and confirm measurement predictions! What fun!
I am trying not to send homework every night, as I understand how busy life can be.  So feel free to take a couple of days to finish one, but please send them back as your child will receive a penny for each finished homework.  Also, I am going to begin paying them a penny for each day that they read at night.  This will require an initial on the calendar so that I can verify they have read.
