Student of the Week: Our special student this week is Jacob Hart!  Jacob aspires to be a police officer when he grows up, which would be perfect because he is very loyal and honest!  Some of his favorites are wolves, pizza, football, the color pink, and playing catch with his big brother Josh.  He has a Rottweiler puppy named Tyke and his heroes are his dad and stepdad! J

PTO basket for first grade:  The PTO is looking for “snacks” to fill the first grade basket that they will be selling at the homecoming game.  All of first grade is in charge of filling the snack basket so if you have any boxed or bagged snack items please send in one or two to add to the basket!  This raises money for our PTO program.  J

Reading: All about magic e for unit 3!  See attached for our spelling words and etc. 

Math: We have begun unit 5, which has a lot of place value work.  I love using Base 10 blocks for this because it gives the written numbers a 3D Value!

Student of the Week: Our special student this week is Angelina Brandal!  Angie has two dogs and two cats.  Some of her favorites are dogs, the color blue, apples, volleyball, and playing with her animals!  Angie loves to dance and her hero is her dog! J

Reading: We began Unit 3 on Monday and this week is all about measuring time!  Today they hopped for an entire minute…they were pooped!  We are observing many things that measure time; for example, a clock, calendar, schedule, and etc.  We looked at time in relation to length beginning with seconds all the way to a whole year! 


Math: Tomorrow will be spent reviewing Unit 4 and then Thursday we will take the Unit 4 Math Test.  Remember to send back the home-links…they will earn a penny!

A Peek in the Week

Student of the Week: Our special student this week is Monserrat Marin-Ramirez.  Monse (her nickname) came to us in September from Mexico.  She did not know any English when she came.  She is very intelligent and has caught on quickly to our sometimes-difficult language.  J  Monse has one sister and one brother in 2nd and 3rd grades.  She would like to be a doctor when she grows up.  Some of her favorite things are mice, the color purple, spaghetti, football, and her mom!

It is report card time again!  This week and next will be spent testing for report cards and for our mid-year benchmark scores.
