Dear Families,                                                                             8-29-16
I am excited about the school year and look forward to spending each day with your little one!  If you haven’t bought any supplies for your child yet, here is what we are still in need of:
·      2 wide-ruled one subject notebooks
·      One 1-inch binder
·      2-24 packs of Crayola crayons (They work the best! J)
·      2 glue sticks
·      2 Expo dry erase markers (black)
·      2 plastic vinyl 2-pocket folder
·      1 box of tissues

Please let me know if you have an email address that I may use to get ahold of you.  You may write this on the sheet that tells me all about your child (if you haven’t already)! J
Last year I sent home a weekly newsletter.  I will also post the newsletter to my blog.  I will try to send the newsletter home on the same day each week.  However, there may be weeks where it is not needed.

BLOOMZ: I am going to try a parent/teacher communication tool called BLOOMZ this year.  Last year I used Class Dojo, but I have heard there is more I can do with Bloomz.  I am excited to try this, but forgive me if I make mistakes.  I will be learning along with you.  There is a sheet in your child’s mail today that explains how to connect with our classroom!

TAKE HOME FOLDERS: You will find everything from me in your child’s folder.  Please leave the behavior calendar in the binder so that they may color each day.  I will be marking “Keep at home” and “Back to School” in their folders.  This will help them to know which papers need to come back with them to me at school.

SNACK: Snack time is different than kindergarten.  We will have a small break for snack each day, but you do not have to provide a snack for each child. Children will need one snack per day for themself.  Thank you!
Let me know of any questions that you may have!  I look forward to a fun-filled year with your child.

LUNCH: Lunch and lunch recess will be daily from 11:30-12:10.

ALL ABOUT ME: If you did not make it to the open house you will find an All About Me poster in your child’s mail.  Please fill this out with your child and send it back to me sometime in September.  One student per week will be displayed in the hallway throughout the year.

GYM:
For the first week of school we will have gym on Tuesday.
For the remainder of the year gym will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  The schedule can change at times.  Your child is encouraged to keep a pair of gym shoes in their locker at all times.  This way they will never forget their gym shoes! J

MATH:
At times you may see a Home link in your child’s mail.  These consist of a few math questions that pertain to the day’s lesson.  A lot of times I will do this with the children together before they go home for the day.  However, there may be times that they will have the home link as part of their homework.

CATERPILLARS:
If you come across any caterpillars or milkweed, please send them in!  We would love to observe them making their chrysalis’ and turning into beautiful monarch butterflies!

VOLUNTEERS:
I have had a few moms ask me about volunteering!  Thank you!
I usually begin a set volunteer schedule in October.  That way the children have the month of September to learn our classroom routine.  Please email me and let me know if you are interested (even if you have already told me in person) so that I can come up with a schedule and a plan.  Then you can let me know if my plan will work!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Kamphouse
